Mochilas with 48 hours of crocheting

Crocheting mochila with “single thread” allows you to obtain patterns of immense finesse and precision. Far fewer Wayuus weavers master this technique, which proves to be even longer and more complex than for the Colombian bags made with the double thread technique .

A Wayuu weaver spends 7 to 10 days to make a single mochila with a single thread, corresponding to 48 hours of crocheting put together. Creating one of these mochilas is an exercise in craftsmanship. Still considered sacred among the Wayuus today, such a Colombian bag is a handcrafted work of art.
